The company is preparing to unveil a significant development in smartphone charging technology. It intends to present the fastest charging solution globally at its annual 828 Fan Festival, which will take place in Shenzhen, China, from August 13 to 15.
Redefining smartphone charging
“Realme breaks the charging speed record again! Wanna see the miracle of the fastest charging in the world? See you on 14th August!” said the company in a post on X.
While there is no official disclosure about the breakthrough charging solution, speculations are rife that it could be a significant leap. According to some reports, Realme is set to unveil a technology that will involve a 300W fast-charging system.
“Realme’s new charging technology can charge your phone at an incredible speed of 300W!” highlighted a user on the company’s community forum. It can be called a notable increase from the current industry standard, i.e. 240W.
This technology could help a smartphone get charged from 0% to 50% in under three minutes, as explained by experts. Additionally, the phone may get 100% charged in just about 5 minutes. That’s a big boost compared to the existing fast-charging technologies.
Some media reports suggest that Realme can launch four proprietary innovations during the fan festival. These may be related to battery technology, charging power, converter size, and power reduction design.
Advantages and concerns
This rapid charging feature can significantly reduce the time required to charge smartphones. This, in turn, can enhance users’ overall convenience and productivity without extended downtime. It will also save users from the hassle of prolonged charging intervals.
However, the fast charging technology is not free from shortcomings either. High-speed charging generates more-than-average heat, which can accelerate the wear and tear of battery cells and reduce their overall lifespan.
